Initial in 2015 when we started our welfare mission in some backward areas of Sundarban (South 24 Parganas) under the banner 'Dr. Subhas Mukherjee Memorial Social Service Initiative', we had only one objective to add some nutritious food items in Govt. Spondored Mid Day Meal provided to the students of primary schools so as to bring a significant number of malnourished students out from their acute malnutrion. We started the program from one primary school and extended our nutrition program to two more schools within a year.
While executing our nutrition enhancement program, we thought of improving the educationstandard of these schools by including Computer education. Taking help of some business houses like software giant TCS (Courtesy: Shri Partha Sarkar), wellknown industrial house Patron International (Courtesy: Shri Rajesh Ray), Rotary club of Indian (Courtesy : Inner wheel Club of Southern Calcutta) and a number of our friends and relative who gave us their old Desktops, Laptops any other accessories, we started settings up Computer Laboratories in then primary schools where the students of these schools could get primary knowledge or Computer and it operation. Within two years, we could set up Computer Laboratories in twelve primary schools spread over Basanti block of Sundarban. But unfortunately we could not proceed further as the entire country was hit by Covid Pandemic in March, 2020. After the country overcame the menace of Covid, we could set up Computer Laboratory in thirteenth school last year.
About two years back we launched a new project to educate children from the downtrodden unprivileged society of rural Bengal by creating an educational institute 'Pathakoli'. The chairman of our Trust Shri Bibekanand Pal, ex head teacher of Nilkanthapur F P School built a beautiful building with his own finance and leased it to our Trust to operate Pathakoli Institute. To build infrastructure of the Institute two of our noble hearted patrons Shri Suvendu Barik & Shri Samir Kabiraj (USA) and one of our trustees Shri Subhrendu Ray Chaudhuri were kind enough to provide necessary financial support. Now the Institute is providing pre-primary education to about thirty five children from underprivileged society. They are provided with nutritious breakfast for their growth
The way ground water in Sundarban is lifted unmindfully to help cultivation, the ground water level in Sundarban is fast depleting and it is forecasted that in another ten to fifteen years the ground water in entire Sundarban will dry up creating severe sweet water crises in the region. To delay the crisis as much as possible, we took up a project 'Save Water' where we started replacing six ordinary taps with taps with water saving nozzles, thereby reducing the consumption at least 30%. Before Covid breakout we could replacement ordinay taps with water saving taps in twenty primary schools in Sundarban and two in Kolkata. We have plan to restart the project as early as possibles.
